Tree Pose – Vriksasana

Vrksa = Tree
Asana = Posture

How to do

– From Mountain Pose, press into the four corners of your feet
– Find your Dristi – focal point that does not move
– Shift weight to one leg and engage standing hip
– Bring the bottom of the other foot to the inside of the standing leg ( below or above the standing knee) with knee opening out
– Press foot into leg and leg into foot
– Keep both hips square to front of space
– Use chair or wall if needed for support – Hands in front of heart or overhead

– Improves concentration and focus

Contraindications

– Recent or chronic injury to ankles, knees, hips or back
