Half Moon Pose -Ardha Chandrasana

Ardha = Half
Chandra = Glittering, shining, having the brilliancy or hue of light; usually translated as “moon”

How to do

– Lower hand directly under shoulder on block
– Stack skyward arm on top
– Move lifted leg toward parallel to floor
– Turn top hip up toward ceiling staking hips


– Strengthen ankles, knees and thighs
– Stretches hamstrings and hips
– Improves balance
– Increases core strength


-Recent or chronic injury to the hips, knees, back or shoulder
